Coaching Information
"We are ALL responsible for a successful athletic experience"
Coaches will...
- create a program student-athletes WANT to be a part of.
- accept responsibility for the performance of their teams and student-athletes.
- clearly communicate program expectations and hold student-athletes accountable to these expectations through the use of authority (not power).
Difference between authority and power:
Power is the ability to force or coerce others to do your will, even if they would choose not to, because of your position or your might.
Authority is the skill of getting others willingly to do your will because of your personal influence.
In other words, power is a position of the leader; authority is the character and influence of the leader.
